New New  New….

This week we have some exciting new things to share with you….

I have received a large order of hand made buttons from The Button Lady ofPenderIsland; each is carded individually so they lend themselves to adding one as a quilt embellishment as well as to garments.  Some would be really smashing on a sweater or jacket.  I will include some photos, but they really should be seen!  Wendy has also done some beautiful red maple leaf lapel pins for us, in two sizes.

For those of you who follow us from afar, our web-shop is now open!  We have begun receiving orders and they will be processed the same day we receive the order.  Thanks to those of you who have already found us online and placed orders.  The overall look of the website will be evolving but the shop is open for business and will continue to be updated.

Many of you know Ursuala Riegel, Designs to Share with You, she is a prolific local pattern designer.  We are pleased to announce we now carry the full selection of Ursula’s patterns and can ship those to you if you cannot come to them.  In addition, hot off the presses this morning, Ursula has a very exciting new pattern called “Maple Leaves”!  If you love the fall colors as I do you will love this pattern!  It makes a wreath or table-topper, a table runner, placemats and the individual leaves can be used for coasters (or for décor).  The wreath can also be used on a table with a vase or charger plate in the center…a stunning centerpiece!  I hope the photo will do it justice.

We are working on a number of new kits as well as re-doing some of the favorites from local designers.

Due to the number of requests we have had for classes I have approached some of the local designers with regard to offering classes in the coming months, rather than waiting until the fall.  Daphne Greig has agreed to do another round of the beginner class in May. Susan Teecewill also be offering classes on a couple of her pieces – the iconic Victoria building with lamp posts and hanging flower baskets, which she has decided to call “Old Town”, and the “Wild Pacific” piece…watch for dates to follow shortly.  If there are other classes you are interested in, please let us know and we will try to accommodate those!

We will be offering some free demo sessions in the coming weeks, I am just in the process of confirming days and times, then we will let you know.  More new ideas and projects to follow…believe me, we have so many ideas!!

Thanks to everyone who shopped and supported our Cherry BlossomSale…this week I have Specials on the following (whether in-store or online)….

  •  odds and ends of thread spools, these are a variety of different threads we have carried in the past, all spools are $1.99 each
  • all in stock Valdani thread is 50% off
  • all flannels in stock, on the bolt, bolt-ends, fat-quarters, and flannel kits are all 30% off

Lastly….thread.  I have been ruminating about what to do with our selection of thread!  We carry a full selection of Mettler, silk-finish, 100% cotton, we carry a selection of YLI silk thread, we have some Valdani, and some metallic….but I just can’t decide what we should be carrying.  I have looked at Wonderfil, considered updating our Valdani, I know Aurafil is popular with some….what to do!!  So, I have decided to solicit opinions from all of you, please let me know what you would like us to carry for thread.  You can send replies to our e-mail at please put “thread” in the subject line.

 Thanks everyone!!
