SUMMER NAPKIN – stash buster

Paper napkins never come back from washing.

If you are an eco-friendly person

and at the same time want to have your own style

it is very easy to make table napkins with just a few sewing skills.

Dinner napkins tend to be 18 to 20 inches square.

Everyday napkins usually are no smaller than 12 inches.

maybe  in  a spectrum of  gelato colours,

or animal prints like these Happikins .

You should  wash and dry your fabric to  shrink

it so there will be no unexpected surprises the first time they are washed.

Very simple napkins can be quickly created

by just sewing a straight stitch around the edge of a pinked square,

or fringing the edge.

You can squeeze three napkins across out of a 42 -44 inch wide fabric ,

and use up bits of yarn for napkin rings.

Basic napkins with a hemmed edge are made  easiest with

a little Heat n Bond tape .

Play with the decorative stitches on your machine  ,

or hand embroidery with lovely Valdani thread or pearl cotton.

Add a little more pizzaz with a contrasting border ,

binding ,

or rick rack

For a fancy luncheon , perhaps try a double sided napkin with a deeply scalloped edge.

Are you an  art quilters? , add a bit of paint.

or  a fancy fold .

If you have a stash of fat quarters  then the cost of these is only the thread and the time that they take to make.

any way you want!
